How to win an election

Do know whether the decisions in the vicinity, you know that coconut shell moved. The streets are lined with flags and improvised mini political party offices, although the Parliament is not dissolved. Ang pow packets, free food, gifts, money, and keep, distributed almost daily.

You have a mobile WINS votes, has to get a couple of problems, or a text message (SMS). Not only a local politician (which I don't know) has a generic to me, I have even a birthday greetings for mother's day, though I do not come into consideration. Agreements in the proposals of the old Roman letters " How to win an election "?

End of Summer Blooms

I love summer and gardening.  My yard is at its peak in May-July each year; however, there are still some good blooms to enjoy into August and September.  One of my favorite flowers, Cosmos, are in full bloom right now!  In fact, they were going SO crazy along the entry to my front door, I had to put this little fence up to corral them in.  My husband thought I should cut them back...  now that's just crazy-talk!!

This area is fairly newly planted.  A few months ago I decided to pull all of the boxwoods that were lining this planter.  I was able to give them to a friend and they are now thriving in her backyard.

We already had this amazing Weeping Cherry and Tree Peony.  They both bloom in early Spring.

Is there anything prettier than a clematis climbing up a birdhouse and blooming?

Here it is a few weeks after I planted the area.  Many of the flowers that were blooming back in May are done now, but the Cosmos are happy to keep going!

And because I love birdhouses, I had to throw this picture in.   The fern is a volunteer.  I love how it's growing around the birdhouse.

What are your favorite flowers?

Thanks for your visit!

More Games for the Game Room

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Fleattitude, a Vintage Market about 50 miles from my house.  I wasn't sure how long it'd take me to get there, so I was pretty early, which made me happy.  (I love being one of the first in line for sales like this!)   The night before, my husband said he wanted to go, until he found out that we'd be leaving by the crack of dawn.  He tried to get me to wait till later to go--not a chance.  Instead, he slept in and I shopped till I dropped.

I found a lot of fun stuff!

The first thing I found was this game board.  I had been considering one online for awhile, but wasn't sure.  I saw this and saw the great price, so I scooped it up!  The only thing wrong with it was a missing net in one corner.

Since I don't do needlework, I decided I would find a replacement.  I thought maybe a fishing net, but those were too thin and expensive.

My husband found this set.  And it was on clearance.  By the time it was ours, we'd paid $2.33.  Definitely worth the chance!

I needed the new net to look a lot like this old one.

I cut it out of the racquet and sprayed it with Camouflage paint.  I let it dry about an hour, then stuffed it in the corners and hung it on the wall.

Yes, if you look closely, you can see which corner is the new one, but really, most people who come into our Game Room are there for a party, so I doubt that they'll ever notice!

Grain Sack Pillow

A friend was moving and trying to get rid of things. I was the lucky person who happened to be in town that day!

She gave me this neat old grain sack.

I took an Ikea pillow insert and pinned the fabric around it.

It then sat on my couch with the pins for several weeks...

Today I sewed it up and now it's good to go. I love the colors and graphics!

Thanks for your visit!

Doing the Wave with Petunias

I'm so glad that someone figured out how to come up with Wave Petunias, because I love them!!

I had some trouble finding them this year.  The planting date that everyone goes by here is Mother's Day.  We were going to be out of town right around there, so I waited until Memorial Day to buy them. Boy was I shocked that they were really hard to find!  Luckily they had just put some out that morning at my favorite nursery.  The colors were limited to purples and whites.  I would've preferred to have more pink flowers, but beggars can't be choosers, right?!

I have them in pots on my driveway and on my back patio.  They are blooming like crazy and are just so much fun to look at!

Here's Bailey doing his wave!  "Hey, I just came in 20 seconds ago, but now I must go outside again!"  :)

Apothecary Collection

I was so happy to see this teeny-tiny apothecary jar on eBay a few weeks ago. I was even happier when I was the lucky winner!

I have several and really wanted this size.  I'd seen a similar one at the Portland Expo a few years ago.  They wanted $1500 for it.  Hmmmm.... just a little out of my price range!  :)

My parents collected apothecary jars and had an amazing collection.  That was until the 1971 Northridge earthquake when we were living in Northridge... I believe they lost hundreds of jars.  Luckily all of our family was safe, but it was horrible to see a room full of glass that morning!

A few years ago, I started collecting jars from eBay and at antique shows.  When my Mom passed away, I received her HUGE Dakota jar, which I cherish!

Look at the difference in size between these two!

I'm just amazed that these beauties have survived almost 100 years!

I believe this little one that I just purchased was originally a "Salesman Sample" jar.  I guess it was easier to carry around this little one and take orders for the bigger ones.

I've seen collections of these at Disneyland and at Lagoon Amusement park here in Utah.  I love how fun and colorful the candy inside can be.

What is your favorite thing to collect?

Thanks for coming by!

Great Time in the Garden and a Great Stuff Giveaway!

I absolutely love summer and working in the yard.

We built this pond four summers ago.  The fish are getting huge and the plants are thriving.

Several birds are making their homes in my birdhouses.

There are three different birds checking out this house.  It looks like the one on the bottom right has already moved in!

There are several babies in this house.  The parent sitting here is very, very attentive and goes crazy if anything or anyone gets close.

I found this ladder last year for $2.  We built the flower boxes and added drippers for water.  The daylilies and coneflowers are some of my favorites.  The rose of Sharon to the right of the ladder hasn't started blooming yet.

What are your favorite flowers?
